About KnowYourSponsor

KnowYourSponsor is an independently built and operated public-data product. This page explains why it exists, how it is funded and what it will never do, so you can judge the service by its evidence and conduct.

Why it exists

Public sponsorship information is difficult to check and easy to misunderstand. KnowYourSponsor organises that evidence so job seekers and professional teams can see what is confirmed, what is inferred and what still needs checking.

KnowYourSponsor is an independent project. It is not affiliated with the Home Office or an immigration adviser. Its methods, source links, limitations and correction route are published so its claims can be checked without relying on a personal profile.

The evidence coverage receipt publishes how many current sponsor names can be linked to each secondary source without guessing, including ambiguous matches that are deliberately withheld.

The Home Office publishes the full list of employers licensed to sponsor a work visa, but the source has no search, industries or clear history of what changed. About 127,000 employers hold a licence, out of roughly five million in the country. If you need sponsorship, checking that evidence early can save time and avoid false assumptions.

What it is, and what it is not

It is a search tool over a public register. That is all it is.

It is not immigration advice, and I am not qualified to give any. UK immigration advice is regulated for good reason. Nothing here assesses your case, tells you whether you qualify, or ranks your chances. If you need advice, use an adviser registered with the Immigration Advice Authority or a solicitor regulated by the SRA.

It is also not the official register. It is a daily copy of one. Before you act on anything, check the official list on GOV.UK. If the two ever disagree, GOV.UK is right and I want to know about it.

Who runs KnowYourSponsor

KnowYourSponsor was created and is operated by Roshan Kumar as an independent public-data project.

The product follows a simple standard: preserve the official evidence, label derived information clearly, and never turn missing information into a positive or negative conclusion.

Things this site will not do

• Charge job seekers to search. The data is public. Put a paywall on it and the tool stops helping the people it is for.
• Sell or rent your email address. Not to recruiters, not to advisers, not to anyone. See the privacy notice.
• Let anyone pay to change the search results. If paid placement ever appears it will be labelled and kept out of the rankings. An employer cannot pay to be listed, delisted, or to have a Companies House warning removed.
• Pretend a guess is a fact. The industry tags and the Companies House matching are both inferred, and both are labelled as inferred wherever they appear. How they work is on the methodology page.

How it is paid for

The public search is free. The service is funded by a paid Watchlist for recruiters, immigration advisers, relocation firms and employer teams that want named employers checked automatically.

They pay for monitoring and delivery, not privileged search results. Job seekers do not pay, and the public search stays free.

I would rather say that plainly than pretend there is no commercial intent. A free tool with a hidden business model is worse than a paid one with an obvious one.

Corrections

If an employer is listed wrongly, if a warning is attached to the wrong company, or if anything reads as more certain than it should, contact the service and it will be investigated. Wrong data here costs somebody a real job application, so corrections come before features.
